The SAN ANDREAS PRESS publishes music using the computer

graphics system developed by Leland Smith, Professor of Music at

Stanford University. This system allows for the high-speed creation,

at a computer display console, of virtually any type of musical page.

There is total flexibility in the size, shape and position of every

musical symbol. Any unusual symbols may be added easily. Error

correction is extremely simple. Separate parts from ensemble scores

are created semi-automatically. For a fuller description of this

process see "Editing and Printing Music by Computer", Leland Smith,

Journal of Music Theory, Fall 1973.

The SAN ANDREAS PRESS publications of works by Leland Smith

show the progress and potential of this music graphics system.

input to a mechanical task where very few judgements
          must be made. January 1977.
